Checking In With A Shabby Chic Mirror Redo

I had a little spare time and since a few of you requested that I check in and let everyone know how I'm doing I thought I'd say "Hey Y'all!"

I'm doing much better and I really appreciate your care and concern.

I wanted to share a mirror I recently finished and sold via Facebook.

This was a very large mirror that was originally gold, but someone had painted it a hideous maroony (is that a word?) brown. In a gloss paint at that!

I gave it a coat of Annie Sloan Graphite and once it was dry began dry brushing on several coats of Old White.

I love the way the details pop now. You didn't even notice them before. (Sorry, I forgot to take before pics.)

The mirror was wired to hang horizontally or vertically.

I love how this turned out and had planned to keep it to put in my newly renovated home but it was just to large to fit any of the places I wanted to put it. :-(

You can't hope to notice the 1980's china hutch reflected in the mirror. This will be one of my next projects. I plan on giving it the Annie Sloan touch very soon. I'm thinking Paris Gray and Old White and I may need to add a little Louis Blue.

You can also see the new wainscoting in my entry, dining room, and hall. All painted with Paris Gray.

I've missed visiting with you and hope you all are doing well.

Until next time.

Hugs,

Peggy, that is so pretty! I can see why you wanted to keep it-too bad it doesn't fit anywhere. Great job! Can't wait to see your hutch all done!
