Great Finds in Collectible Glass

Hello to all my bloggy friends out there.  I hope you are all doing well on this Memorial Day weekend.

We had fun today grilling hot dogs and burgers. After which I had to make my homemade ice cream. Its a must every Memorial & 4th of July holiday.

Everything was delicious and it was so good to get everyone together.

I have finally found a minute to sit down and share the great pieces I found recently at some estate sales. This time I was looking for collectibles and not furniture as I already have plenty of that right now. Too much, I need to get to work.

I really found some great glassware at the estate sales that I will sell on Etsy, in my booth, and some I will keep.

I found two lovely pieces of pink Depression glass in the Mayfair or "Open Rose" pattern.

I collect pink Depression and have quite a lot of it mostly in the "Cherry Blossom" pattern but I'm not picky I'll buy most any of the patterns. I was very excited to see this cookie jar with lid still intact and without any chips!

The pitcher had seen a lot of use but did not have any chips or cracks. Both pieces are in great shape.

I just love this red Carnival Glass basket. Just a stunning piece but not really old. Made about 1970 in the Octagon pattern.  I am still learning about Carnival glass and you have to be careful as there are a lot of reproductions.

To find the true color of Carnival glass you hold it to the light and the base color will come out. In this instance red.

I also found these two hostess plates in the Diamond & Sunburst  pattern. These are also from the '70's by the Indiana Glass Company.  Both are in excellent condition.

If you would like more information on Carnival Glass David Doty's website is a good start.

Isn't this a gorgeous piece? I just love it! It is blue Depression glass by Smith & L. G. Wright in the Moon & Stars pattern.  It is a banana boat compote.  If you are interested in learning more about Depression Glass try depression glass.net or another website I like to use is Kejaba Treasures.

I also found these lovely Lefton China, jewelry holder hands. They were in excellent shape and so pretty.  Lefton china is very reasonably priced and fun to collect but not very good for resale as its value is very low. I like it because all the pieces are so delicate and pretty. Very shabby chic.

Lefton made a lot of the "Occupied Japan" pieces that you see on e-bay and in stores.  For more information on Lefton go here.

I also found this little Lefton, pentagon shaped, bud vase with gold trim.

This is a lovely master, berry bowl by RS Prussia. I did not know much about this china but bought it anyway and now I am glad I did. I've done some research and RS Prussia made some gorgeous china. The best sellers are their portrait pieces. I've joined a great group on Facebook that has been very helpful. If you would like more information go here.

I was thrilled to find this vintage Danisco "Teahouse Rose" china. It consist of a  tea set with the candle holders and the coffeepot.  So pretty and delicate. It was all in excellent shape with no chips, cracks, or crazing.

I love the swirl pattern and the border of pink roses and green leaves. If you would like more information on identifying china and porcelain Google has a great page of marks here.

Lastly, I wanted to share this lovely TV lamp. Do you remember these? In the 1950's and 60's you sat these on that big ole TV you had in your living room. This piece is made by Tilso Company in Japan. It is porcelain and favors Cinderella and her coach. It has gold trim.

Wouldn't this make a great night light in a little girls room?

TV lamps are very collectible and there are every kind imaginable. For more information about these lamps go here.

I hope you enjoyed my finds as much as I did finding them, but probably not.  I love the search! Don't you?

Have a wonderful rest of the holiday.

Hugs,

Nice finds Peggy! I particularly like the depression glass. I can't recall if I have ever noticed blue depression glass before. I had completely forgotten about those TV lamps! We never had one but I can remember them on older friends and relatives televisions. They really would be nice night lights!

Oh, my! What lovely finds.

Today is my first visit. I love your header - Make Your Life Unique - Uniquely Yours.

My house is definitely "uniquely" us. Other people might not like it, but it makes us happy.

I'll be back to read more.
